Safe Recruitment

Careful recruitment and screening of everyone working with young people.

Every mentor, volunteer, staff member, and leader who serves with Olasiva is carefully selected through a recruitment process that prioritises character, integrity, commitment, and a genuine passion for working with young people.

Our process: (1) Application -- expressing interest, experience and motivation; (2) Interview -- understanding character, values and suitability; (3) Reference checks; (4) Background screening where appropriate; (5) Safeguarding commitment -- agreeing to uphold our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct; (6) Training & orientation before working with young people; (7) Ongoing support & supervision.

The fuller Mentorship Journey adds a three-month volunteer observation period and mentor training with safeguarding certification before appointment, followed by annual review and continued development.

We do not simply recruit volunteers -- we prepare trusted adults committed to walking alongside young people with wisdom, compassion, integrity, and accountability.
